Duct and Furnace Cleaning for your GP Home
A happy home starts with a healthy home. You probably try to eat right and exercise to maintain a healthy body, but do you consider what goes into your body every time you take a breath. Most people would say no and suggest it is out of their control. However, when you are in your home, the air you and your family breathe is completely in your control, especially during the cold winter season when your furnace is constantly running.
A forced air-furnace is simply blowing warm or cool air through the duct networks. When the air passed over any debris, the small particles (generally under 10 µm or microns) are often able to become airborne and subject to the air we breathe. Add to this that these particles are not just minerals that we more commonly call dust, they can contain known health carcinogens such as lead, chemicals, pesticides, mold, and spores. So it’s easy to understand that keeping your home and office air ducts clean, is just one more step in living a healthy life here in Grande Prairie.

- We arrive in our specialized vacuum truck at our appointed time with two highly experienced service technicians. Our truck has the vacuum built in and powered by the engine. As well it is fully equipped with a compressor and specialized tools.
- Technicians come to your door and properly introduce themselves. As part of a pre-work assessment, they will do a walk-thru with you to get a full picture of the home’s needs. This is the perfect time for you to do your visual reference of what your vents look like before they are cleaned. It is also a great time to ask questions or for you to specify special needs.
- With protective floor coverings, we ensure that our vacuum hose is brought in safely, so it doesn’t scratch any surfaces. We extend the hose to the furnace area. All registers and cold air returns are sealed so that vacuum suction can occur with the closed system.
- In your main HVAC area, we find the master air supply and return ductwork. If your HVAC system has been cleaned before, access to our vacuum hose may have been made already. If not, we create new openings and ensure they are fully sealed after the job is complete.
- Next, we clean all of the register vents to remove any large debris. We then flush them out with high-powered compressed air.
- Next, we begin the vacuum process to draw out all the debris. We also have a range of air sweep and whip tools to agitate the vent walls so that it releases the debris. The vacuum process continues until all the ventilation is completely cleaned.
- A final optional step is to disinfect the ducts. We use a disinfectant that removes a majority of the bacteria in your HVAC system. On top of leaving you with clean air to breathe, you will get a much cleaner and natural smell coming from your ducts.
- Furnace cleaning is the next step. We inspect and remove the components so that a complete cleaning can be done, starting with the housing, blower wheel, and motor. We also inspect and clean the burner assembly, ignition, and safety controls. Heat exchangers are cleaned of carbon buildup and inspected for cracks. The flame sensor and pilot assembly are checked and cleaned. The gas valve is then tested for performance. Finally, your filter will be checked and replaced if needed. If there are any issues with your furnace, we will provide it in our report and discuss it with the customer.
- Once we are finished, we pack up all the equipment and clean up the work area. This included sealing the openings needed for the vacuum. Our technicians will do a thorough clean up making sure no areas are left marked or dirty. We then put a sticker on the system to remind you when the service was done and when the next service should be considered.
